Performance and Conserve Mode

Use these commands when a FortiGate is slow, dropping sessions, entering conserve mode, or showing high CPU or memory usage.

System status

get system status
get system performance status
diagnose hardware sysinfo memory

Process usage

diagnose sys top 5 20

Press q to exit the live view.

Crash logs

diagnose debug crashlog read

Session pressure

diagnose sys session stat
get system performance firewall statistics

What to look for

• Memory approaching conserve mode thresholds.
• One process consistently consuming CPU.
• Session count close to platform limits.
• Recent crash logs for security or routing daemons.
